Season: 2021 Outdoor

Softball is back in Glasgow. Post lockdown fun for the summer. If not guaranteed to be sunny.

Honey Badgers @ Fockers

This was an important game for both teams for where they would end up after the league split with the Fockers needing the win to have a chance of making it to the top half for the first time in years.  It was an exceptionally close and well played match and was tied at 5 runs going into the 7th.  Unfortunately for the Fockers the pressure meant they got a little tight, something which the Badgers took advantage of to get the win.

MVPs for the Fockers were Novalia (for solid defense at first) and Tony (for solid defense at short stop).
MVPs for the Badgers were Julia (for solid defense at second) and Teppei (for excellent pitching and hist monstrous home run).

Up Next?  The Fockers take on the undefeated Pimps and the Badgers play against the Rocks.

Fockers @ Rocks

This was a complete turnaround for the Fockers after their disappointing loss to the Saltires in the previous week. Scoring 14 runs with 2 outs in the top of the first they took control and never let go. It was a complete game from the Fockers hitting it where they weren’t, good defence and good pitching. But the Rocks didn’t play badly, pitching well, twice getting the Fockers lead-off to pop up harmlessly, and got all of the outs they were given.  However, with everything else hitting gaps that’s going to make for a long night.

MVPs for the Foctkers were Anna (for her consistent hitting and defence in the outfield) and Derick (for his pitching, defence and hitting)
MVPs for the Rocks were Louise (for her hitting and defence) and Ross (for his monstrous home run and being involved in nearly every play on defence).

Next up?
Fockers are involved in a mid table clash with the Honey Badgers and the Rocks face off against the Highland Chargers.

Saltires @ Fockers

After a 3 week break due to COVID restrictions, this was going to be a tough test for the Fockers.  As it turned out only a few of their players even mentally turned up to play giving the Saltires, with the strongest lineup they’ve brought to any game so far, their easiest game so far.  Scoring 7 runs in the top of the first inning, which was more than enough for the win, they never looked back or stopped adding on to win by a convincing run ahead rule victory after 4 innings.

MVPs for the Saltires were tough to pick as the whole team played so well on both sides of the ball but were awarded to Amy and Ross.
MVPs for Fockers were Sara (for getting most of the outs we had at 2) and Russell (for getting most of the rest of the outs in the outfield and his home run)

Up next?  The Fockers take on the Rocks and, in a battle of the only two currently undefeated teams, the Saltires take on Pimpin’
